Hotel overview

Located on Calle de Sta Engracia in the sought-after Chamberí district, the hotel sits within a stately building dating back to 1919, brightly reimagined with a vibrant, colorful design. The property offers modern rooms equipped with air conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi, though some guests have noted Wi-Fi speed variability during peak times. Although rooms are compact, they are thoughtfully appointed with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms featuring quality toiletries.

The hotel does not feature an on-site restaurant but compensates with a casual bar space perfect for unwinding after exploring Madrid. Its location is a major asset — just steps from the Sorolla Museum and lively Plaza de Olavide, and a short walk to cultural landmarks such as the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. Public transit options and metro stations are close by, making it easy to reach different city hotspots.

A warm, friendly staff enhances the stay, frequently praised for helpfulness and local insight. While parking is available at a fee and breakfast is not complimentary, the property is kid-friendly and accessible, catering to a range of traveler needs. Its blend of boutique charm and practical services suits those seeking a memorable Madrid visit in a stylish yet lived-in atmosphere.

“Overall a great hotel with a unique charm, with couple things to note. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. I was welcomed with a small tray of fresh fruit in my room upon arrival which was a nice touch. The location of the hotel is superb. The room is a bit on the smaller side for a 4 star hotel, but is generally sufficient. With that said, it does feel that $300 a night is a bit overpriced for what you get, but perhaps it’s just because of the season and you might get better deals. Personally, I had issue with the WiFi unfortunately which was very spotty during my stay. I ended up using my mobile data for the most part. They had the option to pay €10 a day for a premium business internet but that didn’t change the speed for me. The hotel staff did try to resolve the issue but unfortunately it still wasn’t working for me, so something to be aware of if you are thinking about working during your stay.”

“The experience was excellent!!! Location, surroundings, service, cleanliness, comfort, etc. A special thanks to our awesome trip advisor/tour guide at the hotel's reception, who offered tips and ways to get around easier and most efficiently. I truly regret not remembering her name, but she was the best. Thank you for making our trip even more wonderful. We definitely recommend this hotel and can't wait to visit again.”

“This hotel is such a vibe! The decor is super fun and full of personality — every corner feels unique and makes you smile. On top of that, it’s really comfortable and perfectly located, so you’re close to everything you might need. And the best part? The staff are amazing — always friendly, approachable, and ready to help with anything. Definitely a place that makes your stay extra special!”

“We have just returned from a beautiful stay at Avani Alonso Hotel. This is our second visit to this hotel. Having stayed in Madrid many times before we are obsessed with the location of this hotel and the overall vibe. This hotel is quirky, clean, well presented and in some ways not fussy at all. We stayed in an Avani Superior room, great size King size bed, spacious room, bathroom gorgeous and modern- with a separate shower, which was amazing. The toiletries were luxurious, actually what we use at home, so we loved that. The room amenities were perfect, and the fact the windows and doors open in the room allowing fresh air in is always a bonus. The arrival and check-in at reception was very friendly and the staff are so helpful, giving us all the details required. The staff would help with any problems and questions we had. It was good to see some regular staff from the visit before. We never had breakfast at the property so we can’t comment on that. The metro is two minute walk away, but the area of Chamberí and Trafalgar is around the corner and we love this trendy, laid back vibe area. Plenty of breakfast, lunch and dinner options with many locals hanging out in this area. With easy access to the busy areas Grand Vie, Opera and Colon by metro, bus or a walk away, is a perfect location to see many areas. Head down the hill to Chueca, or Tribunal, Malasana for shopping, and vibes or across the road towards the upmarket area of Salamanca for designers and eateries. We will be back. Room 106.”

“A fantastic boutique hotel for a cozy and relaxing vacation in Madrid. The location is perfect, making it easy to visit almost all the major hotspots on foot. Our room was both quiet and incredibly comfortable. What truly makes this hotel outstanding, though, is the staff! Housekeeping is kept to a very high standard, and the receptionists are absolutely lovely. A special thanks to Carlos and Miguel for their helpful tips, great support during our stay, and above all, their warmth and wonderful personalities! :)”
